ClicData (beta) in practice: The 2011 US wine market evolution

ClicData is now in beta, with the help of a few people we are making tremendous progress on the user experience and fixing bugs.

This is still a Work In Progress, but I thought it would be interesting for you all to get a look at what the application is capable of; therefore I’ll write a few blog posts showing some of its star features.

Here is an example of what you can do with simple charts. I took the data from the Wine institute regarding the US wine market from 2011 and dropped it in ClicData.

With a few Drag&Drop this is what I was able to achieve: (click for full size)

As you can see on the first chart, the total revenue has been growing for the last 10 years although some kind of setback occurred in 2009. In the second chart, we can see how the three different type of wine have been doing independently, showing a slow but steady increase during the whole period.

Zoom In chart

The charts are interactive; here I’ve used the zoom function to get a close up of a part of this particular chart to show that in 1999, more sparkling wine has been sold compared to dessert wine. A mouse over on the particular area would have revealed the number for each series.

I really would like to emphasis on how simple it is to draw those charts, a few drag and drops will get you settled.  Here is another example:

I changed the chart above in literally one click through the side menu.

And this is how the whole application is designed; get through your data in only a few clicks… At last, dashboarding made easy!
