A while back we posted a blog article to resolve an issues that started to happen with our Windows 8 upgrade related to the VPN. The issue is that when we used our at work VPN, some web sites (for example visualstudio.com) would not be accessible.
I thought I had that licked but some people told me that the solution was not 100%. As it solved most of my issues I did not look into it again but lately I have had some web sites blocked again so I took another look. After some research I think I found a way to make this work once and for all (famous last words right?)
Here is the possible solution:
Step 1 – Access your network connections control panel window, right click on the VPN network connection and access the Properties panel. Once that opens you should see something similar to the screen below.
Step 2 – Select the “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and click the Properties button.
Step 3 – Click the Advanced button and a window as shown below appears.
Step 4 – Uncheck the “Use default gateway on remote network” click OK all the way back to network connections.
That should be it. Good luck!
